Older & problem panels

Does Your Home Have One of These Panels?

Some older electrical equipment may warrant professional evaluation or replacement. Recognizing your panel is the first step.

Federal Pacific / FPE Stab-Lok

Older Federal Pacific Electric panels using Stab-Lok breakers have a long history of safety concerns and are frequently discussed during home inspections and insurance reviews. Homeowners with an FPE/Stab-Lok panel should have the equipment professionally evaluated.

Zinsco / Sylvania-Zinsco

Zinsco and some Sylvania-branded panels are obsolete equipment commonly found in older homes. Replacement parts and equipment can be problematic, and homeowners may encounter concerns during inspections or insurance underwriting.

Challenger

Some older Challenger electrical equipment and breakers may warrant evaluation because of age, equipment history, condition or difficulty obtaining appropriate replacement components.

Pushmatic / Bulldog

Pushmatic/Bulldog panels are older electrical systems still found in some homes. Their age and obsolete design can make upgrades or replacement worth considering.

Older Fuse Panels

Homes that still rely on older fuse-based electrical service may not have the capacity or configuration expected for today’s electrical loads. We can evaluate replacement and modernization options.

A balanced view

Not every panel from these manufacturers is automatically unsafe, and not every insurer requires replacement. Needs depend on the panel, its condition and the insurer’s underwriting requirements.
