Panel guide

Zinsco / Sylvania-Zinsco Panels

Zinsco and some Sylvania-branded panels are obsolete equipment commonly found in older homes. Replacement parts and equipment can be problematic, and homeowners may encounter concerns during inspections or insurance underwriting.

How to tell if you have one

Look for the manufacturer name on the panel door or the label inside it. Not sure? Send us a photo of the panel and its label and we’ll help you identify it.

Why homeowners have it evaluated

  • Age and condition of the equipment
  • Availability of appropriate replacement components
  • Questions during home inspections or insurance underwriting
  • Need for more capacity or breaker spaces

Insurance and replacement

Not every panel from these manufacturers is automatically unsafe, and not every insurer requires replacement. Needs depend on the panel, its condition and the insurer’s underwriting requirements.

Replacement process

  • You contact us or send panel photos.
  • We evaluate the existing equipment and project.
  • You receive a clear estimate.
  • Required permit and utility coordination is handled as part of the project, as applicable.
  • The existing equipment is replaced.
  • The required inspection is completed.
  • Utility service is reconnected and energized after required approvals.

Not sure what panel you have? Send us a photo and we’ll help you identify it.
